What this service covers
What goes into your replacement
We inspect the roof first. Then we go over tear-off, decking, flashing, ventilation and underlayment with you before we agree on the work. We'll also talk through shingle or metal options and copper flashing. For low-slope areas, we'll cover TPO, EPDM or Hydro Stop. If CertainTeed roof-system or hand-nailing requirements apply to your project, we'll cover those too.

Why it matters: A planned replacement protects the structure and improves curb appeal. It also ends the cycle of patching a roof that's past it. On shingle roofs, nail placement and depth matter: overdriven, angled or misplaced nails can weaken how well shingles hold up in wind.

CertainTeed ShingleMaster: Vera's Roofing is a CertainTeed ShingleMaster credentialed roofing company. For shingle roofs, we typically recommend CertainTeed and GAF 30-year shingles. For eligible CertainTeed shingle replacements, we'll help you compare the roof system, manufacturer warranty paperwork, registration, transfer rules and exclusions before we order materials.
Manufacturer coverage is not automatic. Availability depends on selected products, full roof system, installation requirements, registration, property type, transfer rules, and CertainTeed’s current written terms. Installations include a one-year warranty covering labor and materials, in addition to those manufacturer warranties.
Metal options include 5-V, Multi-Rib, and standing seam. For painted metal panels, we recommend 26-gauge minimum for wind and corrosion resistance. When a permit is required, we get it.
Hand-nailed shingle work: We hand-nail only when it's part of the agreed scope. When it is, we place each nail deliberately and check its placement and depth before the next shingle covers it.
FORTIFIED roof option
Considering a FORTIFIED roof?
Gustavo Vera is a FORTIFIED Roofer (provider ID R012048). FORTIFIED standards are designed to help roofs better resist high wind, hail and hurricanes. Ask about these features while planning your replacement.
Plan early: An eligible project can require specific scope, installation documentation, evaluator coordination, and verification before covered details are hidden by later roofing layers.
What the credential means: The FORTIFIED Roofer credential belongs to the contractor. It does not designate your home or guarantee a grant or insurance benefit. Each project needs its own evaluation and documentation.
Compare roof replacement estimates
Know what the roof replacement price includes.
Two estimates can call for different work. Before you compare totals, ask each roofer to explain the differences, and get these details in writing:
- Roof and materials. Confirm the roof areas, how many old layers will be removed, and the roofing product and underlayment included.
- Flashing and vents. Find out which flashing, pipe boots and roof-edge metal will be replaced or reused, and whether any vents will change.
- Damaged wood. Ask for the price per sheet, board or other unit of replacement decking, what quantity and labor are included, and how you will approve any extra work before it starts.
- Protection and cleanup. Ask how they'll protect the house while the roof is open, including overnight or if it rains, and how they'll haul away nails, debris and old materials.
- Schedule and payments. Get estimated start and finish dates, plus the deposit and payment schedule. Don't pay for the whole job before it's finished. NC consumer guidance
- Warranties. Our installations include a one-year warranty covering labor and materials, in addition to the standard manufacturer warranties. When you compare estimates, get each contractor's warranty length, coverage, exclusions and claim contact in writing. Review the manufacturer's terms and any registration requirements separately.
- Credentials. We carry workers' compensation and general liability insurance. In North Carolina, contracts worth $40,000 or more require a licensed general contractor. Verify a GC license. If another license is claimed, check with its issuing agency. Ask for the contractor's insurance certificate directly from the insurer. NC DOJ guidance

Repair may be enough: The problem is localized and the surrounding roof is still in good condition.
Consider replacement: The roof keeps needing patches, wear is widespread, or several areas are failing.

What affects the cost of roof replacement?
Roof size, slope, access, selected materials and the condition found during inspection affect the work required. Compare estimates with the same roof areas, tear-off and decking assumptions, flashing and ventilation details, and written warranty terms. An inspection and agreed scope are needed for a property-specific estimate.
How do I know if I need replacement instead of repair?
If wear is widespread, leaks keep coming back or the roof is just worn out, it may be time to consider replacement. We'll make the final call after the inspection.
Can every roof get CertainTeed manufacturer warranty coverage?
